Turvo's SMC3 CzarLite integration

Turvo provides connectivity with Less-than-truckload (LTL) platform partners to help bring additional collaboration to the LTL carrier base. These LTL platforms integrate into the Turvo experience so that our customers have a unified, seamless experience. One of the available platforms is SMC3 CzarLite  (referred to as “SMC3” for the rest of this article).

In this article, you will learn more about:

SMC3 integration capabilities

Turvo’s SMC3 integration’s primary function is to retrieve contracted rates for LTL carriers. This integration is one-way, with Turvo receiving LTL contract rates from SMC3. Turvo does not send any assignment information back to SMC3.

Protip: Turvo also provides integrations with project44 (P44). The table below displays the capabilities of each LTL partner platform integration. See our Turvo’s P44 integration article to learn more about that integrations

Requirements

In order to use the SMC3 integration, the following requirements must be met:

  • Credentials must be provided to Turvo Support for integration with you tenant
  • The carrier must be present in your SMC3 account and Turvo tenant with a matching SCAC ID on both platforms
  • A contract must be created in your SMC3 account.
  • A contract must be created in Turvo, utilizing the carrier, with Mode set to LTL.

How to enable the SMC3 integration

To enable the SMC3 integration, you will need to have an existing account with SMC3. Submit a support request to have the integration enabled.

Protip: See our article, How to submit support requests and view requests, to learn more about submitting a support request.

In the request, provide your existing SMC3 username and password so that Turvo can connect to your SMC3 account. The Turvo Support team will notify you once your request is completed.

How to set up a carrier for the SMC3 integration

Unlike the carrier setup for the P44 integration, the SMC3 integration does not require you to toggle the carrier account for LTL visibility on your Turvo tenant. Instead, you need to ensure that the carrier is created in your SMC3 account and that the SCAC ID used in SMC3 matches the SCAC ID assigned to the carrier in your Turvo tenant.

Note: Carriers need to be created in Turvo prior to configuring a SCAC ID. To learn more about creating carriers, see our How to create a carrier article.

To configure the SCAC ID on your carrier’s profile:

  1. Use the left navigation menu to navigate to Accounts > Carriers.
  2. In the Carriers page, select the carrier you want to make visible for LTL shipments by scrolling down to find it or using filters.
    1. Note: Carrier account pages will also appear when typing their name into the global search bar. See our article, Searching in Turvo, to learn more about using the global search bar.
  3. In the carrier’s account page, click the Details tab.
  4. Click the General section header to expand the section.
  5. Click the Profile segment header to expand the segment.
  6. Fill in the provided SCAC ID field with the SCAC ID that matches the carrier in your SMC3 account.
    1. If the SCAC ID field is already filled in, use the +Add SCAC button to add an additional SCAC ID.
  7. Click SAVE.

Configure LTL contracts

Once Turvo is able to link the carrier account to the carrier in your SMC3 account using SCAC IDs, Turvo will be able to pull lane rates based on tariffs from your SMC3 account when creating new LTL lane rate contracts in your tenant.

Note: The SMC3 integration is used only for contracts, not global rates. Contracts need to be configured for each LTL carrier on a specific lane individually.

When creating a contract and setting the Mode field to LTL, additional LTL only fields appear that utilize your SMC3 integration. Some of these fields will populate based on information pulled from your SMC3 integration.

To learn more about adding lane rates to contracts and the LTL only fields used by the SMC3 integration, see our How to add lane rates to contracts and global rates article.
