Note: Some categories and some reports within each category may not be available in your tenant, depending on your current configuration.

Important note: All reports in the Commissions card require an applied filter to show results in the Summary card, and the GENERATE REPORT function must be used to view individual results. For instructions on how to use the filter functions to create reports, see our article Turvo Reports at a glance.

How commissions are calculated in Turvo

Turvo calculates commissions based on the following equation:

(x - y) * z = a

Where:

  • x = The total billable dollar amount paid by the customer for the shipment.
    • Found in Shipments > Details > Customers > Payments.
  • y = The total payable dollar amount owed to the carrier for the shipment.
    • Found in Shipments > Details > Carriers > Costs.
  • z = The recipient’s commission percentage rate.
    • Users that receive commission for customer shipments and their rates are set in the customer’s profile, found in Accounts > Customers > [Account] > Details > Commissions.
  • A = The total amount paid as commission to the recipient.

Example:

On shipment 3148G-36GGB:

  • The total amount paid by the customer (x) was $2,174.56.
  • The total amount paid to the carrier (y) was $1,210.78
  • John Doe’s commission rate for the customer is 10% (z).

Therefore, the calculation for John’s commission amount is ($2,174.56 - $1,210.78) * .1 = $96.378.

Turvo will show that John’s commission for the shipment is $96.38.

Important note: Commissions will show as a negative value in your reports until the customer has paid their bill. For example, if a customer's unpaid bill is $725.00 and John Doe's commission rate is 10%, the Commissions column on your report will show -$72.50 until the customer has paid their bill. It will then show $72.50.

Commission Report

The Commission Report provides data on the entire commission history for your organization, providing a quick view of users who are owed commissions or have already been paid for shipments that occurred over a given date range. Results are shown by shipment, meaning that separate shipments that share the same commission recipient/customer will be listed individually.

Note: This report is visible only to Financial admin users.
