Turvo’s Verizon Connect integration supports asset tracking via telematics by associating automatic GPS/cellular updates received from telematics devices to specific Turvo events, such as a pickup or delivery. Users can self-service integrate with Verizon Connect via Turvo’s Integration hub. See the steps below to set up your tenant with Verizon Connect.

Verizon Connect prerequisites
Before enabling the Verizon Connect in Integration hub, reach out to your Verizon account owner via the Reveal app. Navigate to My Account in your profile and then select Contact your Success Manager to add Turvo’s Standard API package.
After adding the API package, contact the Verizon Support team at <reveal.support@srv.verizonconnect.com> to obtain the integration REST credentials. The REST credentials will be entered into the Username and Password fields within Integration hub.
Enabling Verizon Connect via Integration hub
After completing the prerequisites, return to Turvo and navigate to Integration hub. Click your profile icon at the top right corner of the page and select Admin console from the drop-down menu.
Select the Integration hub tile.
Scroll down to the Telematics integrations section and click the Verizon Connect tile.
If not already selected, click the Integrate tab and enter the following information into the fields available in the Credentials block of the integration:
- Atmosphere app ID: Enter fleetmatics-p-us-ZsrZMYMIub1rFo2Si5q5lrlB1m5OlWooyxV6z50j into the field.
- Username: Enter the REST integration credentials acquired from Verizon support.
- Password: Enter the REST integration credentials acquired from Verizon support.
- Auth URL: Enter https://fim.api.us.fleetmatics.com:443/token into the field.
- Location URL: Enter https://fim.api.us.fleetmatics.com:443/rad/v1/vehicles/ into the field.
Once all of the fields are complete, the CONNECT button will change from grey to blue. Click CONNECT to establish the connection.
Assigning Verizon Connect to assets in Turvo
After the integration with Verizon Connect is complete, you can then assign Verizon as the telematics provider for your assets in Turvo. Connection can be configured within the asset details modal during asset creation or after the asset has already been created in Turvo--whichever is most convenient for you. Make sure that the integration for the desired telematics provider has already been enabled in Integration Hub, otherwise you will not be able to select it on the asset.
Note: Connecting to telematics providers is only available for assets with TL selected as their mode.
Step 1:
Navigate to the Assets > TL page using the left navigation bar.
Step 2:
Once on the Assets > TL page, open the asset details modal by editing an existing asset or clicking + Add asset to create a new one.
Step 3:
Next, select the appropriate asset type from the Asset type drop-down and add the appropriate Asset number. This number is how the asset in Turvo is linked to the telematics device. The Asset number in Turvo needs to exactly match the vehicleNumber in Verizon exactly.
Step 4:
Select Verizon as the provider from the Sensor provider drop-down menu at the bottom of the modal. The Sensor ID field does not need to be filled in.
Final step:
Once all of the necessary fields are complete, click SAVE or CREATE to connect your asset to Verizon Connect.
Tracking a shipment with Verizon
In order for a shipment to be tracked using Verizon, the asset that is being used (and has Verizon assigned using the steps above) must be added to the shipment.
Assets can be added on the Details tab of a shipment under the Carrier block > Equipment used segment.
Once the asset is assigned, tracking will start based on the appointment time on the shipment. The default setting in Turvo is that tracking will start 30 minutes prior to the appointment time on the first stop.
Shipments with tracking information are easily identified by the blue tracking symbol on the shipment card or summary page. Click this symbol to quickly view all location update details received from the telematics device.
If you are an asset-based broker with your own vehicles and the asset is added to the shipment, Turvo will ingest location information, such as location details, speed movement, etc., from Verizon Connect device and those updates will be surfaced within the shipment to which the equipment is assigned.
If you are a carrier and your connected asset is added to the shipment, location pings will be shared to any connected brokers on the shipment. Alternatively, as a carrier you can share the asset number with the broker and they can add it to the shipment to receive the location details.
The Location updates window contains all location updates received outside the location geofence and can be filtered by moving or stopped updates. If your tenant has Verizon Connect configured and Verizon is the assigned telematics provider for the asset, Verizon will appear in the Source column. If the shipment has been shared with your tenant, the Source will appear as the sharing tenant’s name.
Location updates that are posted within the geofence are considered major events in the shipment lifecycle, such as a pickup or delivery, and are recorded on the shipment Timeline tab.
Protip: To learn more about geofences and how to configure one, see Managing advanced location details.
