To ensure all of the appropriate parties are linked and have insight into your shipments and orders, you can create an Other account. Other accounts encompass some of the other entities that can be involved in the planning and execution of order and shipments such as suppliers, buyers, consignees, etc.
Note: Other accounts are not available by default--if you’re interested in enabling Other accounts for your tenant, reach out to your Turvo representative.
This article covers:
Creating an Other account
Step 1:
Log in to your Turvo tenant and click on the + symbol in the top right corner. Then select Other account from the drop-down menu.
Step 2:
Fill in the details on the Create an account modal.
- Account type (required): Select the type of account you’re creating from the drop-down. Options include Buyer, Seller, Supplier, Vendor, Bill to, Consignee, Consignor, Customs broker, Agent, Manufacturer, Notify party, Factor, and Freight forwarder.
- Account name (required): Provide a name for the account.
- Parent account: This will link the new account to the parent account to easily view details of all related accounts in one location. For more information on parent accounts, see our article on creating account hierarchies.
- Address (required): Enter the account’s address.
- Account owner (required): This field is pre-populated with whatever user is creating the account, but you can also select an account owner from a list of all internal users. This field can be changed later only by Admins and Super admins.
- Groups: Select the groups you'd like this account to be part of. If you are not sure what a group is, please review the Creating and managing user groups article for a description.
Final step
Once all of the information is filled in for the account, the Create button will change from grey to blue. Click CREATE and the new account will be created.
Existing Other accounts will appear under Accounts > Other in the left navigation menu, or by searching for them in the global search bar:
It’s important to note before you can add an Other account to an order or shipment, you’ll need to set their status to Active. You can find an Other account’s status in Details > General > Status.
Adding Other accounts to orders and shipments
You can add Other accounts to orders and shipments in your tenant once they’re successfully created and their status set to Active. See the steps below to learn how to add the account to an order or shipment.
Step 1:
To add an Other account to an existing order or shipment, navigate to the order or shipment and click on the Details tab.
Step 2
Scroll to the bottom of the order or shipment to the +Add account block. Click +Add account.
Step 3
In the text box that appears on the left side, start typing the name of the Other account. Turvo will search your tenant for any matching accounts. Click to select the correct account.
Once selected, you’ll see an option to toggle on sharing. Make sure the Share toggle is ON and blue to enable sharing with your carrier.
Click the small green checkmark to add the account to the shipment or order.
Final step
The selected account has been added to your shipment or order! You can now add additional information such as IDs and Contacts to the section.
Protip: If you need to remove something you add, move your cursor to the top right corner of the item to reveal an x and click it. This applies to sections throughout Turvo.
Other accounts added to an order or shipment will be grouped by account type (ie Sellers, Buyers, etc.):
Other accounts and sharing
Whenever added to a shipment or order, those partners with their own Turvo tenant have the ability to view the details of the order or shipment within their tenant. Depending on the method used to add an Other account to a shipment or order, the information shared with them will vary.
Sharing via the + Add account button
Other accounts added to an order or shipment using the + Add account button will have the following experiences when viewing shipments or orders:
