Networking with customers, carriers, and partners in Turvo

As a Turvo Admin, Super Admin, or users that have custom roles with admin permissions, you have the ability to invite your business partners to join you within the Turvo network for free from your tenant.

Users you invite will have instant access to their Turvo tenant and can begin taking action on shared shipments and setting up account details. Tenants created from invites have basic functionality, allowing the invitee to collaborate with the inviter. To gain full functionality, anyone who is invited will have to contact Turvo to claim their tenant.

This article covers:

How to invite your Partners to Turvo

Invites can be sent to the customer and carrier accounts that have been added to your tenant and are in an Active status. When you view your carriers and customers in Turvo, you’ll notice a button next to their name to CONNECT.

All added carriers and customers will have the CONNECT button, however, if the carrier or customer is still in a Created status, it will be greyed-out until moved to an Active status.

Inviting customers

When the CONNECT button on a customer’s profile is blue, you can click to send an invite. The modal displayed in the image below will pop up requesting some information.

Note: The CONNECT button is only visible to users with Admin, Super Admin, and custom roles with admin permissions.

  • Invite contacts: Enter in the contact you want to send the invite to. If you do not have the correct contact added to Turvo already, you can create a new contact by clicking the + New Contact button that pops up when you click into the Invite contacts field.

Note: For security reasons, domains that are public (such as gmail) are not able to receive self-service invitations.
  • Shipper portal:
    • Rating & quoting: Allow customers to see ratings and quotes from carriers.
    • Booking: Allow the customer to book carriers directly from their tenant.
  • Modes: Determine which modes are supported in the rating, quoting, and booking feature.

Note: You can adjust your customer’s settings for sharing carrier information and rating/booking from the customer’s account page in your Turvo tenant. See our Managing carrier information sharing, rating, and booking preferences for your customers article for more information about managing these permissions.

Once you’ve entered in all the fields, click SEND INVITE.

Inviting carriers

  • Invite contacts: Enter in the person you want to send the invite to. If you do not have the correct contact added to Turvo already, you can create a new contact by clicking the + New Contact button that pops up when you click into the Invite contacts field.

Note: For security reasons, domains that are public (such as gmail) are not able to receive self-service invitations.

Once you’ve entered in all the fields, click SEND INVITE

When the invite has been sent, the CONNECT button in the customer or carrier’s profile will change to say INVITE CONTACTS

Clicking INVITE CONTACTS will pop up a modal window which will allow you to resend any invites that you've previously sent, or click under the "Invite new contacts" section to select another contact to invite. Existing contacts that have been associated to that carrier or customer account will pre-populate in the drop-down, or a new contact can be created directly from here.

The customer or carrier contact that you invited will receive an email at the email address on their contact profile, allowing them to accept your invitation and work together in Turvo. The email will indicate the name of the person who sent the invite, as well as your company name. If there are any shipments created with them, a preview will also be included letting them know how many shipments you’ve created with them, and the details of the most recently created shipment.

At the bottom of the invite, the invitee can click the ACCEPT INVITE button to begin their account setup. For more information on how your partners accept and set up their account, please see How to accept a Turvo connection request.

Once the invitee accepts the invite, the Admin, Super Admin, or user with admin permissions who sent the original invite will receive a notification email. This email includes an APPROVE button.

Click the APPROVE button to approve the tenant immediately, the original Admin, Super Admin, or user with admin permissions who sent the invite can make changes to the tenant before approval. See Shared Tenant Configurations below if you want to set the tenant configurations.

Once approved, the tenant is then claimed by the invitee. When the tenant is claimed, the Admin, Super Admin, or user with admin permissions who sent the original invite receives an email notification.

Once you are connected, a blue Turvo icon will appear next to the customer or carrier’s profile image in your Turvo tenant:

Disconnecting from connected partners

Similar to any social networking site, the Admins, Super Admins, or users with admin permissions from the organization that sent out the invites has full control over who they are connected with and can disconnect from a customer or carrier partner at any time.

To disconnect, hover over the three dots in the upper right corner of the profile card, and select Disconnect

Disconnecting from a partner stops all further sharing with that partner. If you no longer work with a particular carrier or customer, you can disconnect from them to prevent any further sharing or updates.

Managing your connections

The easiest way to find and manage your connections is using the Network tab in the left navigation menu. For more information on managing your connections and using the Network tab, see our Managing connections in the Network tab article.

Shared Tenant Configurations

You have the ability to manage several configurations for a newly-created tenant that you are connected to. When a new tenant invitation is sent,  you can set the initial configurations for that tenant.

Important note: For these settings to appear, the invited tenant status must be Connected and have an onboarding status of either Unclaimed or Pending Setup.

If the invited tenant is Not Connected, or if the connected tenant's onboarding status is Completed, these settings do not appear.

These settings are located in the Details tab of the account under the Tenant configuration section.
