Depending on the type of order selected, orders in Turvo serve as a request to move goods or as the movement of inventory inside the warehouse.
Orders also allow you to plan shipments directly in Turvo instead of managing requests across multiple systems. They can be shared with warehouses and carriers so all involved parties are in the know and then be planned into shipments accordingly.
There are three types of orders you can create in Turvo:
- Transportation orders: A request to move goods from point A to point B
- Warehouse orders: A request to move inventory inside a warehouse
- Customer orders: A representation of a customer's purchase order
Important note: Warehouse and Customer orders are not enabled by default and are not available unless they are enabled. If you’d like to enable Warehouse and/or Customer orders, contact your Turvo representative.
Learn the basic steps to create an order below.
Click on the + icon in the upper left corner and select Order.
Fill in the applicable required fields in the 3-step Create order modal. Required fields for the order depend on the configuration decided by the service provider.
If the you don’t work with a specific service provider, the Create order modal will have the following standard fields:
- Order type: Choose from Transportation, Warehouse, or Customer order.
Note: Warehouse and Customer orders are not enabled by default and are not available unless they are enabled. If you’d like to enable Warehouse and/or Customer orders, contact your Turvo representative.
- Service provider: Auto-populates with a specific service provider if you work with one. Otherwise, the field populates Other.
- Direction: Populates orders.
Note: The method that Turvo uses to determine direction can be set in the Admin console. See the Understanding and updating tenant settings article for more information.

Note: To learn more about requested pickup/delivery dates and other date types in Turvo, see our Understanding dates and times on a route article in Help Center.
To view the required fields in each step of the Create order modal, click the greyed out NEXT button and the required fields will be highlighted in red.
Once all required information is filled out, the CREATE button on the final step of the modal will change from grey to blue--click CREATE. Once the order is created, you will land on the new order’s Details tab.
If you need to add additional information to your order, you can do so by filling in the various fields available in the order's Details tab.
