Recommended workbooks to address Turvo Driver app usage
It is recommended Turvo Analytics users use the Driver app usage summary and Carrier scorecard workbooks to monitor Driver app usage and illustrate the benefits of Driver app adoption for drivers and carriers. To access these workbooks, click Explore on the left navigation and drill down from the Analytics folder to the Shipment 360 folder.
Then, click the Driver app usage summary and Carrier scorecard workbooks to access the data and preset views.
Driver app usage summary workbook
The Driver app usage summary workbook provides data about Turvo Driver app adoption across your carriers and individual drivers. Each view within this workbook offers an in-depth look at which account owners are promoting Turvo Driver app usage and how often the app is used in shipment execution.
Note: Each card this workbook’s views are affected by the applied filters and will only show data for shipments that match the filter parameters.
Data tracked in the Driver app usage workbook
The views within this workbook will help you visualize the total number of shipments where the types of Driver app usage, listed below, occurred. These fields are common across the views within this workbook.
- Shipment volume: The total number of matching shipments, including those with no Driver app activity.
- # of shipments with carrier added: The number of matching shipments with a carrier assigned in your Turvo tenant, including those with no Driver app activity.
- # of shipments with driver added: The number of matching shipments with a driver assigned in your Turvo tenant, including those with no Driver app activity.
- # of shipments where driver was invited: The number of matching shipments where the driver was invited to use the Driver app.
- # of shipments with any driver activity: The number of matching shipments where the driver used the Driver app in any capacity.
- # of shipments driver enabled tracking for shipment: The number of matching shipments where the driver enabled tracking via the Driver app.
- # of shipments driver started shipment: The number of matching shipments where the driver initiated the shipment via the Driver app.
- # of shipments driver checked into location: The number of matching shipments where the driver checked into the pickup/delivery location via the Driver app.
- # of shipments driver marked location complete: The number of matching shipments where the driver marked the pickup/delivery as Complete via the Driver app.
- #of shipments driver finished shipment: The number of matching shipments where the driver marked the shipment as Complete via the Driver app.
- # of shipments driver uploaded POD: The number of matching shipments where the driver uploaded the Proof of Delivery (POD) to the shipment via the Driver app.
Views in the Driver app usage summary workbook
Driver app usage view
The Driver app usage view displays information on Turvo Driver app usage across all carriers in your network. If you are promoting Driver app adoption for your tenant, this information is valuable for promoting increased usage of the app with your carriers.
The following four cards are included in the Driver app usage view:
- The Driver usage funnel for all carriers card displays a bar graph that measures the total number of shipments where each of the top carriers by Driver app usage occurred.
- The Top carriers by Driver app usage card displays a bar graph of the top carriers in your tenant by the number of shipments assigned to them. The grey portion of the bar represents the total number of shipments, and the blue portion of the bar represents the number of shipments where any kind of Driver app usage occurred.
- The Driver usage by carrier card displays the number of shipments where Driver app usage occurred for each carrier.
- The % of shipments that completed each step card displays the percentages of shipments where Driver app usage occurred, broken down by carrier.
Individual driver usage
The Individual driver usage view shows which drivers for each of your carriers are taking advantage of the Turvo Driver app to execute their shipments. This data is especially helpful in visualizing which carriers are inviting drivers to use the Driver app for their shipments and address carriers who have not yet promoted the app to their drivers.
The Driver activity by carrier card is the only card in this view. It displays bar graphs that measure the total number of shipments where Driver app usage occurred, broken down by the driver and carrier.
Driver activity by account owner view
The Driver activity by account owner view shows which drivers for each of your carriers are utilizing the Turvo Driver app to execute their shipments, similar to the Individual driver usage view detailed in the section above. However, this view displays drivers by the carrier account owner on your Turvo tenant that the carrier account is associated with. This data is especially helpful in visualizing which of your carrier account owners are more successfully driving adoption of the Driver app. 
The Driver activity by carrier account owner card is the only card in this view. It displays bar graphs that measure the total number of shipments, broken down by the driver and carrier account owner.
Shipment details - Driver app view
The Shipment details - Driver app view shows metrics related to Turvo Driver app usage during shipment execution. Each shipment number is linked to the shipment in your Turvo tenant. Shipments are displayed as individual rows in a table, with columns listing both shipment information and the Driver app usage that occurred in each shipment. A colored block in a cell indicates that the Driver app was used for the action indicated by that column.
Filtering the views in the Drive app usage summary workbook
Each view in the Driver app usage summary workbook contains some or all of the following filter options, displayed as drop-down menus on the right side of the page. Each filter option serves the same function in each view:
- Date type: Select the type of date to filter for shipments by; either Shipment create date, Shipment pickup date, or Shipment delivery date.
- Timezone: Select the timezone used to display date and time data.
- Select date: Use the pop-up menu to select a date range to filter for. Ranges can be configured by Years, Quarters, Months, Weeks, Days, Hours, or Minutes. Make a selection and click away from the menu to apply the filter.
- Primary customer name: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to select which customers’ shipment information to display. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all customers.
- Carrier name/Account name: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to select which carriers’ shipment information to display. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all carriers.
- Shipment status: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments including the selected statuses. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all statuses.
- Shipment destination name: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with a specific destination location (the Location name in the shipment). Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all destination locations.
- Shipment destination city: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with a specific destination city name. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all destination cities.
- Shipment destination city/state: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with a specific destination city name and state. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all destination cities.
- Shipment destination state: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with a specific destination state name. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all destination states.
- Shipment destination 2-digit zip code: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with where the destination location’s zip code starts with the selected two characters. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all destination zip codes.
- Shipment destination zip code: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with specific destination location zip codes. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all destination zip codes.
- Shipment origin name: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with a specific origin location (the Location name in the shipment). Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all origin locations.
- Shipment origin city: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with a specific origin city name. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all origin cities.
- Shipment origin city/state: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with a specific origin city name and state. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all origin cities.
- Shipment origin state: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with a specific origin state name. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all origin states.
- Shipment origin 2-digit zip code: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with where the origin location’s zip code starts with the selected two characters. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all origin zip codes.
- Shipment origin zip code: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with specific origin location zip codes. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all origin zip codes.
- Carrier account owner: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with specific carrier account owner users. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all carrier account owner users.
- Driver name: Use the checkboxes in the drop-down to filter for shipments with specific drivers. Select all that apply, or select (All) to include all drivers.
Carrier scorecard
The Carrier scorecard workbook looks specifically at your carriers and their performance during shipment execution. The views within this workbook allow you to analyze and compare Turvo Driver app adoption rates to other performance metrics.
- Carrier scorecard: Provides in-depth data about your carriers and their completed shipments. Turvo Driver app usage is included on the scorecard to quickly compare carrier adoption rates to other metrics, such as average days to collect POD after delivery.
- Carrier performance by lane and breakdown: Provides the same metrics as the carrier scorecard, but is organized by lane and carrier. Select a lane in the top window and the bottom window will show the carriers that have supported that lane in the past. This data can be useful for consolidating carriers, creating a routing guide, or finding carriers that would benefit from increased Turvo Driver app usage.
- Carrier details: Provides a detailed view of carrier performance over time. To populate the graphs on the right with that carrier’s data, select the carrier in the left window. From there, you can click a point on the graph to compare all the metrics on a particular date, or view the graphs as a whole to identify relationships between Turvo Driver app usage and other metrics.
- Shipment details: Includes the same metrics for the Carrier scorecard broken down by individual shipment. Each shipment number is linked to the shipment in your Turvo tenant to access more details.
Adoption metrics summary
The Adoption metrics summary workbook provides detailed information on how Turvo’s sharing features, such as offers, automated tracking, and shipment sharing.
Adoption metrics summary
The Adoption metrics summary displays cards that summarize data on shipments, accounts, and offers, and the adoption of Turvo sharing features within the time frames specified in the filter options.
Protip: Use the four filter drop-downs in the top-right to filter for data based on a shipment date type and range, shipment statuses, or an offer date range.
The cards in the report summarize the following information:
- A card featuring the overall statistics on shipments and sharing within the specified time frame, including:
- The total number of shipments,
- The total revenue of all shipments,
- The percentage of the total shipments that were shared,
- The total number of shared shipments, and;
- The average number of organizations that shipments were shared with.
- Account volumes: Tracks the total number of shipper (customer) user accounts vs the total number of carrier user accounts on your tenant.
- Carrier account connections: This card summarizes the total number and percentages of carrier user accounts in the tenant that:
- Are not connected to a tenant (Null);
- Are connected to a tenant, but no user accounts are set up (Sharing is not dependent on users in the carrier’s connected tenant);
- Are drivers that shipments are sent to via the Driver app, or;
- Are business users.
- Customer account connections: Summarizes the total number and percentages of customer user accounts in the tenant that:
- Are not using shipment sharing features (Null), or;
- Are business users.
- Tracking %: Provides the total percentage of all carrier and customer user accounts combined that are utilizing tracking features in the tenant.
- Carrier account tracking and Customer account tracking: These cards summarize the total number and percentages of carrier and customer user accounts in the tenant that:
- Are not utilizing Turvo’s automated tracking features, and;
- Are utilizing Turvo’s automated shipment tracking features, such as Turvo Driver App, a telematics provider, or an electronic logging device (ELD).
- A card featuring the overall statistics on offers made to carriers, including:
- The percentage of shipments that had an attached offer,
- The total number of shipments with offers,
- The total number of offers,
- The number of counter-offers received from carriers, and;
- The number of offers responded to by carriers.
Shipment sharing metrics
The Shipment sharing metrics report provides cards and graphs that detail and visualize data on shipment sharing from month to month, including:
- Shipment volume by month: Displays the total number of shipments each month.
- Revenue by month: Provides the total revenue for all shipments each month.
- Shared % by month: Displays the total percentage of shipments that were shared each month.
- Shared shipments by month: Displays the total number of shipments that were shared each month.
- Orgs per shipment by month: Provides the average number of organizations that the shipments in a given month were shared to.
Network adoption
The two tables and graphs in the Network adoption report provide detailed data on customer and carrier adoption of your Turvo network by connection type. These include:
- The Customer adoption by month table and graph display the total number and percentages, by month, of customer user accounts that did not use shipment sharing features (Null), were business users. This enables you to track customer adoption of your network over time.
- The Carrier adoption by month table and graph display the total number and percentages, by month, of carrier user accounts that did not use shipment sharing features (Null), only have shipments shared to them, were drivers that a shipment was sent to via the Driver app, are business users. This enables you to track carrier adoption of your network over time.
Shipment tracking metrics
The tables and graphs found in the Shipment tracking metrics report detail customer and carrier adoption, by month, of Turvo’s shipment tracking features, as well as which carriers and customers are the tracking features the most. These tables and graphs include:
- Tracking % by month: Displays the percentage of shipments, per month, where Turvo’s automated shipment tracking features were used by carrier or customer user accounts.
- Customer and Carrier account tracking by month: Outline the total percentage of customer and carrier user accounts, per month, that did and did not utilize Turvo’s automated shipment tracking features.
- Top carriers and Top customers by tracking status: Provide the total shipment volume and percentage of shipments for each carrier and customer organization that did and did not use Turvo’s shipment tracking features. The total cost per account for all shipments is also provided.
- Protip: Information is first separated into customers and carriers that used Automated tracking and those with No automated tracking in the leftmost column, Any tracked shipments. Within each of these categories, the information is separated into accounts.
Offer adoption metrics
The Offer adoption metrics report provides a quick view of your total shipment volume per month compared to the total volume of offers made per month, how many of those shipments had an attached offer, how many offers received responses from the carrier, and how many offers received a counter-offer form the carrier.
