Feature description

Requires enablement by Turvo?

Tenant-level #RunningLate & #Approaching Late threshold rules:

Turvo now allows users with Admin permissions and above to create a Running Late and an Approaching Late threshold at the tenant-level via the Admin console.

Tenant-level thresholds serve as a default threshold for all customer accounts, unless specific thresholds are added to a customer account. In these cases, the account-level thresholds override the tenant-level threshold.

Tenant-level thresholds are recommended when the same threshold can be applied to most customers, and individual thresholds can be set for customers that require them. This reduces the number of accounts that need to be manually updated.

Note: The tenant-level threshold feature is available to all Turvo tenants. You don't need to make any changes to your tenant if you are already utilizing customer account-level rules.

See the Manage and configure #ApproachingLate and #RunningLate threshold rules article to learn more.

Carrier and customer account tags visibility in associated shipments:

By default, account tags are visible only in the Accounts page. However, users with Admin access or above can now configure your tenant so that the tags that are assigned to the shipment in customer’s and carrier’s accounts can be viewed from within the shipments they are associated with.

You can quickly see the tags assigned to the customer or carrier that can impact your workflow for the shipment.

Important Note: This feature only makes these tags visible from within the shipment to users in your tenant. The account tags are not assigned to the shipment, nor are they shared to your connected shipping partners.

See the Show customer and carrier account tags within shipments article to learn more about this feature.

Account-related Tasks now available:

We extended Turvo’s Tasks feature to customer accounts, providing the ability to create and manage tasks tied to accounts, like one-time reminders to follow-up with a prospective customer, or recurring tasks that you may need to track. For example, the creation of a monthly batch invoice.

You can view and address these tasks in the account page using the new Tasks tab or manage all your account-related tasks via the Workbench.

You can also use Turvo’s Autopilot feature to create notification rules and to automatically generate recurring tasks.

See the Create and manage account-related tasks article to learn more about leveraging account-related tasks to manage your shipping partners.

CR-13310 and

Tenant and location-level settings for exception information and shipment status notes on link emails:

We changed the Admin Console > Shipment > Delivery Link segment to the Share Link segment and updated the associated toggles.

Previously, there was only a Show exceptions toggle that included exception information in delivery location links.

The Show exceptions and Show shipment update notes toggles for delivery location links will unlock corresponding toggles at the location-level.

You must then configure each location to include this information on delivery links sent to that location.

These toggles will add exception information relevant to a location in the email and a Notes field in the Create link modal to include a message in the email.

The Show shipment updates notes toggle for Turvo links will enable a Notes field for all manually-created Turvo links.

Additional configuration is not required for this toggle.

See the Include exception information and shipment status notes in link emails article to learn more.

Updates to the data glossary for custom document templates:

We updated the data glossary for tenants using the custom document templates feature with a new format. We are also adding additional fields that may be useful when creating the HTML files for your custom templates.

The file format is a .xlsx spreadsheet file, that includes two tabs, one containing a glossary of Data Variables, and the other providing an example and tips for creating a custom template HTML file.

The data glossary section of the Configure Document templates in Admin console article contains additional information on the data glossary.

Assign sharing profiles to Carrier groups and Customers:

We introduced the ability for users to create a sharing profile so they can assign these profiles to carriers and customers.

After you create a sharing profile, you will be prompted to assign the profile to an individual or a group.

You can also create a new carrier group. When you create the new carrier group, you will be directed to the profile assignment page when you can assign the profile.

Important note: This feature is not enabled by default. Contact your Turvo representative to enable this feature.

Assigning multiple customer order details with carriers:

We enhanced the existing Turvo sharing functionality so you can share multiple customer orders within a shipment with the associated carrier.

The following details apply to this enhanced feature:

  • When there are multiple orders associated with a shipment, we will share the Orders and items with the Carrier.
  • All the items associated with the Orders are combined and displayed under the Items section of the shipment.
  • The items can be shared in the same way you can share pick-up and delivery location details.

See the Order sharing in Turvo article for more information.

New flags for “Suspended” or “Do not use” carriers:

We created new “Do not use” and “Suspended” flags that display on carriers in Card view or List view.

These flags are designed for active carriers in Turvo and are not overridden by RMIS or MyCarrier Packets integrations.

See the Tagging “Do Not Use” or “Suspended” carriers article for more information.

TDI updates for the preferred track provider in the Carrier profile:

We created new fields for integrations that are used to capture data for routing guides and onboarding tracking for integrations.
New TDI fields:

  • Tracking Provider - Lookup
  • Unique identifier - Conditional field

New SSO multi-tenant switching support:

When users switch tenants after logging in to Turvo, the system will check if SSO is enabled. If it is enabled, users can now take advantage of SSO compliant multi-tenant switching.

Important note: The SSO multi-tenant switching support feature is not enabled by default. Please contact your Turvo representative to enable this feature.

Driver app: Configurable start time:

We introduced the ability to set the shipment Start Time, and then update it, or change it when necessary.

Previously, drivers could only start the shipment six hours before the set pick up. With this release, the shipment Start Time is configurable and updates in the Driver app.

The toggle to switch this setting ON or OFF will be available in Admin console > Rules > Shipments > Shipment updates > Configure shipment start time.

Driver app: Ability to request drivers' current location:

We introduced the ability to manually ping the driver’s device to in Turvo to verify their current location.

The location is then updated on the shipment’s location and on the corresponding blue dot on the shipment’s map.

Driver app: Logout prompt for drivers accessing the invite link with a different phone number:

We added a new logout prompt that displays when a driver that uses a different phone number than the number they log into the Driver app with.

When the driver taps or clicks a SMS invite link and with a different phone number they will receive this message:
“You are trying to access a shipment associated with a different phone number. Please log in again with the correct phone number.”

Show detailed order data and order changes in Timeline:

We enhanced the current Timeline feature by providing a more detailed description of order changes.

Previously, when an order was created, the timeline showed a snapshot of the order and when the order was updated but it did not show the initial order field values.

This release we are providing an enhanced Timeline that shows:

  • Initial values for the order fields
  • Text commentary of the order changes. The commentary text can be copied and pasted from the Timeline.

See the Order changes and creation data in timeline article for more information.

Permissions for location details:

We updated the permissions for location details so you can now manage the roles that have permissions to update the following details:

  • Address Information
  • Phone
  • Email
  • Delivery Links
  • Primary Contact
  • Special Instructions
  • Services Required
  • Directions

Exception auto-resolution improvements:

Turvo will automatically resolve the following exceptions when you complete the missing exception information:

  • Origin/destination is missing: Automatically resolved if you add the missing origin or destination.
  • Carrier is missing: Automatically resolved if you add the missing carrier to the order.
  • Pickup/delivery date is missing: Automatically resolved if you add the missing pickup or delivery date.
  • Charges are missing: Automatically resolved if you add the missing charges.

For more details on this feature, see the Manage exceptions with Workbench article.

Automatically adding origin and destination-level services to orders:

For this release, we automated how origin and destination-level services are added to an order.

We are:

  • Adding a Services section on the Origin/Destination on an order.
  • Showing location-specific services on an order.

Note: Origin and destination-level services can still be added manually to an order.

See the Manage advanced order details article information for more information.

New “Created on” filter for Locations:

We added a "Created on" filter for Locations so you can search for locations by creation date.

For example, you can search for all locations that were created last month with this filter.

New Country and Tracking Provider columns in carriers List view:

In the List view for carriers, we added a Country column and a Tracking provider column in the optional column list. This will help identify and track carriers based on their country and their preferred tracking provider.

New order lockout rule configuration:

We added a new toggle to prevent orders from progressing to subsequent phases or statuses if they are incomplete or have missing data.

The toggle is in Admin console > Rules > Orders > Configurations > Order progression restriction. You can set the toggle to allow orders to progress or to not progress.

You can define Order Progression Lockout rules in Admin Console > Settings > Orders > Order progression restriction. Create Order Progression Lockout rules by completing the following fields:

  • Role
  • Order Type
  • Phase
  • Status (optional)
  • Only if unresolved exceptions exist (optional checkbox).
If the Only if unresolved exceptions exist checkbox is checked, the following fields are optional:
    • Exception types
    • Exception reasons

See the Locking orders from changes article for more information.

Updated Autopilot rules for auto rating orders:

We updated the way you can provide a billable rating without the manual step of having to click the RATE button within the order. This functionality is like the way auto-rating shipments works in Turvo.

You can create an Autopilot rule for auto rating orders with the following fields:

  • Rule Name
  • Entity: Orders
  • When:
    • An order status changes (new option this release)
    • An order status is updated
    • An order is created
  • If Order type (required) - select one of the following types:
    • Warehouse order
    • Transportation order
    • Customer order
  • And Order phase is or is not (required):
    • Open
    • Plan
    • Processing
    • Closed
    • Cancelled
  • And Order status is or is not (required):
    • Select the order status (or statuses) for the Order phase or phases you selected
  • And Group or Tag is or is not (optional)
  • Actions: Rate customer billable (toggle)
    • Global Rates or
    • Contract Rates

For more information, see the Autopilot: Automatically Rating Orders article.

Turvo Shipment ID now appears in the Memo field of the QBO Vendor bill:

We updated Turvo’s QuickBooks integration so that when a carrier invoice is approved in Turvo and triggers the creation of a Vendor bill in QBO, the Turvo Shipment ID is added to the Memo field in the Vendor bill automatically. This provides additional visibility in QBO’s Transaction List by Vendor report of what shipments are linked to transactions.

For more information about the QBO integration, see Turvo's QuickBooks Online (QBO) integration: Overview article.

Select and delete multiple Groups:

We introduced the ability to select and delete multiple Groups at the same time.

For more information about using Groups in Turvo, see the Create and manage user groups article.

Custom role permissions for Announcements card:

We updated support for custom role permissions for the Announcements card. Custom roles now have the ability to View, View & Edit, and View, Edit, and Delete announcements.

For more information on role permissions in Turvo, see the Video: Admin console - Roles & permissions.

ADMN-21 and ADMN-22

User invite expiration status:

When you send an invite to a user and that link expires, that status will display as Invitation expired, rather than reverting to Invited.

This gives you visibility into what the user invitations that have expired and require you to send a new link. As part of this feature update, you can configure an expired user invite to auto resend the invitation.

The remaining time for a user invitation is displayed in Admin console > Users. You can navigate to the user to see the time remaining on their invitation.

For more information, see How to create and manage users article.

Groups Summary tab, Overview card, and member association:

As part of our efforts to improve the Groups entity, we introduced a Groups Summary tab. On this tab, you will see an Overview card that displays high-level information like the group’s creation date, the name of the user that created the group, the group’s description, any duplicate groups, and whether group messaging is allowed.

The Summary tab also includes a Member Details card that displays total users including active and suspended users, and the total number of users assigned to each role within the group.

For more information about Groups in Turvo, see the Create and manage user groups article.

User role change notification:

We added the ability for admin and super admin level users to enable notifications for user role changes.

When enabled, Turvo notifies active users in the notification center and sends an email when their role is changed. With this update, we are also adding the ability to bulk update user permissions.

To learn more about how to configure and use this new feature, see How to create and manage users.

Permission assignment support:

We simplified the way you find and assign permissions for roles that use that feature when a new attribute, entity, segment, and section is added.

Previously, you had to assign permissions individually for each role. Now, for example, when a new attribute is added to an entity, a notification is added to Admin console > Roles & permissions that lets you know that permission assignment is needed for that new attribute.

From there, you can assign permissions. This applies to Turvo standard roles and custom roles.

For detailed information, see How to create and manage users.

Replace the TDI Successful record column with Total files column:

To reduce confusion with TDI file uploads, we removed the Successful record column.

This field could be confusing because it showed only the mandatory files that were uploaded and did not account for the optional files. We are replacing this column with a Total files column that shows total files uploaded in the Job ID.

Rating and Freight Matching (RFM)

CR number

Feature description

Requires enablement by Turvo?

Consolidated rating in Turvo:

To eliminate the need for users to manually calculate and apply any consolidation cost benefits, Turvo now recognizes when multiple orders from the same customer are consolidated into a shipment.

For example:

  • If a customer is charged freight cost at a per-pallet rate, based on the following ranges;
    • 0-9: $58/pallet
    • 10-19: $56/pallet
    • 20+: $54/pallet
  • And, that customer places three orders of:
    • Seven pallets
    • Five pallets
    • Eight pallets
  • Then, Turvo will apply the consolidated rate of $54/pallet: The three orders add up to 20 pallets.

If three orders with 7, 5, and 8 pallets each are consolidated into a shipment, and if the orders are rated individually, the cost per pallet would be $58.

Since all three orders are consolidated into one shipment, the combined quantity falls into the 10-20 pallet range and therefore the $56/pallet cost would be applied.

See the article for more information.

TDI improvements to Contracts:

We enhanced your ability to manage contracts through TDI by adding the following features to the contracts .csv file:

  • Turvo now supports customer IDs instead of requiring the customer name to be an exact match.
  • You can now add SCAC and carrier IDs through TDI.
  • Turvo now supports uploading rate tables through TDI.
  • Upload failures now trigger actionable error messages.

See the TDI field mapping tables - Contract article for more information.

Improved cost allocation during order-to-shipment:

We improved the cost allocation for order-to-shipment functionality so that orders will disperse costs to the appropriate shipment.

Previously, if an order was planned onto multiple shipments, all the costs associated with the order copied to every shipment.

See the Order-to-shipment planning - Allocate costs article for more information.

CR-13813 and

Manage routing guides and contracts in TDI:

Update: This feature will not be released in 2023-R2 Release. This feature will be available in an upcoming future release.

When this feature releases you will be able to manage your routing guides and contract rates in bulk using TDI by downloading a .csv spreadsheet. The spreadsheet contains a filtered snapshot of your current routing guides and contract rates, enables you to make changes, and re-upload the changes through TDI.

Driver details offer process improvement:

Before this release, carriers could not add driver details to an offer page while accepting email offers, requiring the carriers to separately contact the driver.

We added fields to capture a driver’s name and phone number in the offer screen. Adding driver information during this process automatically sends the information to the driver.

See the Send an offer to a carrier article for more information.

Transportation, Execution, and Planning (TEP)

Equipment details on Route card:

Equipment used in a shipment, including Equipment type and Asset Number, will now be displayed for each specific route segment on the shipment’s Route card.

To view equipment used, click Show equipment details on the Route card on the shipment’s Summary tab.

To learn more, see the View equipment details for all route segments article.

Standard Fields in List View:

We added the ability to view, sort, filter, and export item attributes in the Shipments page List view using the following changes to columns and filters:

  • New columns in the shipment List view include Item #, Carrier contact, Customer contact, Appointment for next stop, Requested for next stop, and Planned for next stop.
    • New filter options in the shipment List view include Item #, Item name, and the various customer and carrier external IDs.
  • The Origin, Destination, and Item reference value filter fields have also been updated, supporting multiple values.
  • Appointment for next stop is now a sort option in the shipment List view.

These changes allow you to adjust the filters and columns in ways that give you more control of how data is displayed and exported.

For more detailed information on these changes, see How to filter shipments article.

Add multiple customer blocks to an LTL shipment:

We introduced the ability to add multiple customers to an LTL shipment. Previously, this capability only applied to TL shipments.

Default tracking provider for carrier:

Turvo will automatically add default carrier- and broker-specific tracking information for shipments that are created manually or through Turvo's Public API. This can be configured for individual carriers or at the tenant level.

To learn how to configure this feature, see Connecting to telematics providers in Turvo article.

Update to Shipment and Pickup/Delivery Services:

We added the Shipment services and Pickup/Delivery services to shipments in Turvo.

New options include:

  • Shipment Services:
    • Driver Takedown
    • Tow Takedown
    • Driver Setup/Install
    • Tow Setup/Install
    • Loading and Local Pickup
    • Unloading
    • Unloading and Local Delivery
    • Trip Charge
    • Labor
    • On-Site relocation
  • Pickup/Delivery Services:

    • Driver Takedown
    • Tow Takedown
    • Driver Setup/Install
    • Tow Setup/Install
    • Loading and Local Pickup
    • Unloading
    • Unloading and Local Delivery
    • On-Site relocation
    • Trip Charge

Show terminal info of carriers on shipment:

For LTL shipments, you will now see the carrier’s contact and terminal information when receiving a shipment from SMC3, CarrierConnect XL, and P44.

This information is located on the shipment’s Details tab in Carrier > Terminal info.

For more information, see our LTL Shipment Guide article.

CR-13761 and

Update Order and Shipment on association and dissociation:

Before this release, any changes to an order were not communicated to associated shipments, and any changes to shipments were not communicated to orders.

With this update, adding an order or consolidated order to a shipment  also adds that order’s information and route details to that consolidated order and/or any associated shipments.

This update applies to all new orders, all planned shipments on an existing order, and to various order-to-shipment scenarios:

  • One order to one shipment
  • Multiple orders to one shipment
    • Same origin to destination
    • Different origin to destination

Additionally, when removing an order from a shipment or consolidated order also removes that order’s information and route details from that consolidated order and/or any associated shipments.

  • Turvo now removes the IDs, Additional attributes, Stops (as long as they are not on any other active order), Items, Groups, and Cost Line items for that order from the associated shipment(s) or consolidated customer order.
  • If all orders are removed from a consolidated customer order, the consolidated customer order is removed from its associated shipment(s).

For more information on the above scenarios, see the Order-to-shipment planning article.

Integration items are also released as part of the patch releases. Reference the 2023-R1 Patch One and 2023-R1 Patch Two Release Notes to learn more about recent patch release items.

P44 Carrier Push integration:

This project44 (P44) carrier integration pushes location data from Turvo to P44. This is designed for carriers and brokers who need to send location updates from Turvo to P44 and ensure they meet their customer's tracking compliance needs.

See the Turvo's P44 Carrier push integration article for more information.

RMIS enhancements in Integration hub:

We made improvements to RMIS in Integration hub, giving you more options to configure how your Turvo instance ingests data from RMIS.

The new Carrier Data preference section allows you to configure carrier data. Once you toggle it on, each field allows you to configure how the data is ingested from RMIS. The options include:

  • Create: Creates a field in Turvo from RMIS once
  • Update: Updates the field continuously in Turvo from RMIS syncs
  • Reset: Resets all the fields for that section before the next sync
Note: A warning is displayed when you select this option.

See Turvo's RMIS integration article for more information.

RMIS Update from FTP to SFTP:

We added the ability to integrate with RMIS via sFTP.

In Admin console > Integration hub > RMIS > Credentials, you will be able to select the option to connect via FTP or SFTP.

Turvo will continue to support both FTP and sFTP.

For more information about the RMIS integration, see Turvo's RMIS integration overview article.

Update to P44 cancel requests:

When you delete a carrier in the Route section using P44, and then either add or delete a carrier in the Carrier section, Turvo will send a cancel request to P44.

Previously, cancel requests were not being received by P44. This scenario now works as expected.

New Trucker Tools integration - Book It Now and Carrier Capacity:

This integration provides a resource for shippers and brokers to find carriers that can cover their loads quickly and efficiently. You can post loads to a Trucker Tools private loadboard in Turvo and then import real-time capacity and booking information back into Turvo.

Important note: Completion of this integration requires submitting a support ticket.

For more information on this integration, see the Turvo's Trucker Tools integration: Book It Now and carrier capacity article.

Updates to Dashboard card configuration and rearrangement:

We updated the Dashboard card configuration feature to include the remaining cards that were previously unable to be toggled on or off in the Admin console > Rules > Others > Configurations > Dashboard segment.

Additionally, the rearrangement feature will be compatible with Turvo’s default Dashboard view, and for those tenants that use the Shipper, Carrier, or Broker views.

Note: The Views feature must be enabled for your tenant to configure the Shipper, Carrier, or Broker views.

Learn more about rearranging your Dashboard cards and changing your Dashboard view in our Arrange dashboard cards and Using the Dashboard for smart insights articles.

DATA-20, and  DATA-34

We made the following updates to Turvo Analytics:

  • Analytics now captures the following data:
    • Group data: We added a Group data source to Turvo Analytics, which can be used in custom workbooks to capture group information related to your shipments. You can now see the margins, commissions, customer costs, invoiced amounts, amounts due, carriers costs, carrier payments owed, and current carrier balances for shipments assigned to specific groups.
    • Data for accounts with no associated shipments: Previously, Analytics could not return results for accounts on your tenant that had no shipments associated with them. Now, all accounts can be found in Analytics, regardless of whether they have associated shipment. This has been applied to all default workbooks provided with Analytics.
    • Commission percentage information: The Accounts 360 data source now includes data on the commission percentages earned by users on your Turvo tenant that receive commissions for shipments. This data is available for building custom reports.
  • New workbook in Shipment 360 project: We added a new workbook to Explore > Analytics > Shipment 360. The Default shipment report workbook provides visualizations of shipment metrics such as shipment revenue, volume, and performance.

See our Shipment 360 - Default shipment report workbook article to learn more.

Radius function for Lane History report’s Origin and Destination filters:

We added a radius function to the Origin and Destination filters in the Turvo Reports > Carriers > Lane History report.

You will now be able to view all lanes within the selected radius of the a specific origin or destination location.

See our Turvo Reports - Carriers article to learn more about the Lane History report and its filter options.

Snowflake reader account for direct access to platform data:

Turvo Analytics users can now request reader accounts in Snowflake. This provides you direct access to the data that is fed into Analytics from your Turvo tenant.

This account will allow you to run queries, and extract for long-term storage and the analysis of data without Turvo Analytics' Tableau-based user interface.

If your organization is interested in a Snowflake reader account, contact your Turvo representative.
